Other Shots

Red commented asking to see some other angle shots of the jeeps I have so while I was posting I thought I would pop them on now so here ya go (didnt get round to painting them)

Changes

Okay so things have been a little hectic here of late so the project has been put on the backburner... I will be moving to Brighton, England some time in the next 2 months to go and live with some of my relatives and see what the world has to offer...

As a result I now have a little over a month to get a workable, compact army built and fully painted for me to take away with me i was thinking 1500 pts is probably a good amount to work at. It should fit in the 1 case and will be versatile enough for me to be able to change the army around if I need to...

I am looking at lists that take advantage of what I already have built so that I dont have to rebuy very much

All these lists are working on the assumption that like here the guys in the UK arent big fans of using the IA Supplements in games if its not such a big deal i'll probably just finish off my Badab War army and just stick to a similar list to what I was already looking at

The first list I was looking at is something like this...

Master of the Forge - Conversion Beamer

3x10 scout squads Camo cloaks Missile launcher Power fist 4 shotguns and 4 sniper rifles in 2 squad 4 bolters and 4 sniper rifles in the third

2x Landspeeder Storms with multimelta's

6x Scout Bikes Power fist 3x astartes grenade launcher

1x Thunderfire Cannon

3x Dreadnoughts Missile Launcher

2nd List is something like this

Captain - Power Fist

Command squad 4 x plasma guns
3x10 Scout Squad Missile Launcher Power Fist

3x Landspeeder Storm - Multimelta

2x 5 Devastator squad 4 Missile Launcher

2x Razorback TL Lascannon

List 3 is something like this

Shadow Captain Shrike

Command Squad - Power Weapon Power Fist Thunderhammer Storm shield

3x 10 Scouts Missile Launcher Power Fist 4 Shotgun 4 Sniper Rifle

2x 7 Scout Bike Squad Power Fist 3x Astartes Grenade Launcher

Ironclad Dreadnought in Drop Pod

These are just a rough start any kind of comments or criticism are welcome im not sure what the metagame is over there I can imagine its much like here with vehicles being extremely popular so any advice there would be helfpul

Something Different

So i got back some models from a mate who was painting them (he didn't quite finish them up) and thought i would put up some pictures. It is a heavily converted scout squad and 2 Storm Jeeps i was working on before the Badab campaign began....

First Game

Just finished the first game for the league went a lot better than I was expecting. 125 pt kill teams.
My list was:
5 scouts with camo cloaks
a missile launcher with relentless
a combi melta and power weapon on the sergeant with feel no pain
one scout with a bolter and furious charge
2 with sniper rifles.

Opponent was playing Dark eldar his list was:
3 Reavers
Heat lance on one
Power weapon + Cluster Caltrops on the sybarite with stealth

Not sure what other USR's the rest had. I lost to the leadership saves after losing 3 guys i had killed 2 of his jetbikes but the leader survived and hid out till I failed my leadership not much I could do about it. I was pretty happy it came down to who failed their leadership saves first I was expecting it to be a lot more one sided. Let me just add that bladevanes + cluster caltrops in kill teams are ridiculous. Getting to hit people whilst moving 36" a turn and getting a 3+ cover save for your troubles is completely rude.

Better pics

Finally got a chance to sit down with the digital camera and take a few better photos of where I am up to

Nearly got the squad to a point where I am happy with them just a little bit of touch up work to be done and then ill post up pictures of the entire squad
I am quite happy with how the bases have turned out. Part 5 of the league is to make a display board for the army so I am going to try and stick to the same look. Ill go to a cheapo shop somewhere and try to pick up some small ornaments and the like with faces on them to smash up and use as basing and get some fish tank plants which should do the trick

First Pics

Okay so I finally got round to taking a photo of one of the first nearly finished guys (note i only took it on my phone so quality not so good)

The first week of the league is 125 Pt's Kill teams out of the battle missions book so i have decided to go with a list something like this

5 Scouts + Missile Launcher + combi-melta, power weapon, sergeant + 2 sniper rifles + 1 boltgun + camo cloaks all round =125 pts

I will decide which 3 USR's I will go with when i see what im up against but something like Feel no pain, sergeant, Tank hunters for Missile man, and something like Furious charge for the bolter guy.

should be reasonably good I'm a big fan of the way that scouts perform in small points games and I wasn't at all happy with the other options except for maybe a dreadnought which I wasn't planning on using in my final army.

This is the sergeant out of the squad I pinned and didn't glue the combi-melta so that i can switch it out for a sniper rifle afterwards rather than be stuck with the combi-melta.

Motivation

As I said in my opening post something I am lacking is motivation to complete armies/miniatures/stuff in general.

So when my offsider at the store suggested a Badab War based build your army competition for the stores next league I was all ears. Basically the plan is that everyone involved will have a $65 budget and a point limit each fortnight to add to their armies with the ultimate goal being to have a 1000pt themed showcase army by the end of it. One week of the fortnight we will judge each others armies, the other week we will play with what we have with the points for the games being added into the normal league results and the points for the painting counting towards a separate prize...

The armies that are allowed to build from are the ones involved in the Badab War.
The choices were Space marines and Chaos space marines (all different flavours), Orks, Dark Eldar, Grey Knights, Tyrant Legion (Lugft Hurons army list detailed in Badab War pt1)

I should probably clarify right now i have a small obsession with infiltrators/stealthy types in most games I play... my default D&D class is rogue, my current Space Marine army is an entire scout force (the only guy not in carapace armour is the commander) and my Tau were filled with Kroot and stealth suits. So when it came to choosing an army for this campaign there was only one option for me

The Raptors

According to the fluff these guys are experts at guerrilla warfare, ambush, infiltration and hit and run tactics. Adapting to the situation to get the best results. It might seem a little silly to you to make another SM army that is basically the same as the one I have now but if you had seen my existing marine army you would understand.

In the Beginning

They call me Fro,

I have it pretty good when it comes to being a gamer, I am manager of a small gaming store in my home town, long hours, low pay but plenty of people around to learn the craft from. I haven't been into war gaming all that long either, I got my position from having played Magic: the gathering for the last 10 years. I dabbled in miniature games at the very start getting in all of about 10 games in a year or so but soon gave up as the players just weren't there to make it worthwhile. Over the years M:tg has been my game of choice but i have played any number of various RPG's and numerous other card games.

When I opened the store I thought it might be a good chance to get back to my first interest, and I have been making up for lost time furiously cutting, gluing and painting my way through way too many little plastic men. My efforts are a little haphazard at best I have very few miniatures that most people would consider finished let alone an army that is anywhere near completion.

Im a 20 something Gamer from Australia. I'm not much of a writer, I'm not an avid blog reader or blogger and I'm not even much of a painter, but I do like to game and motivation is hard to find these days so I thought maybe if I make a blog of my miniatures and gaming experiences I might be more motivated to get more done. If someone likes this enough to have a read every once in a while fantastic, if not that's not really what its all about is it.

So here goes
